Created on both a metal lathe and mill, these candle holders and tray were a project born of wanting to gain precision skills on heavy machinery while also combining the visual aesthetics of what a household object could possess.

The candle holder with the ability to fit into the bottom of the aluminum tray was machined by me while the candle holder on the right was machined by a fellow peer, Tiffany Huang, with the aid of a technical drawing I drafted. The aluminum tray was created to work in conjunction with the candle holders. It functions as either a method to make the candle holder taller, or when flipped upside down can be used with its initial purpose as a tray to hold small items such as jewelry. The candle holders and the tray can be viewed as separate designed objects, but also as a system where they fit together depending on the user's functional preference.
