A Celebration of Pockets sits in this in-between section of what are the parameters of pockets
and items that can function as a pocket. Each element of this wearable design ties back to how
pockets can be visually and functionally represented. The loops help shift the garment for
different users, similar to how a bag can loop around a body. The ability to disconnect or be tied
at the waist guides the garment to be akin to a tool belt or a wrap-around pack. The exploration
of closure options changes depending upon its location to the body with zippers and buttons. The
use of two's, taken from pockets on garments, helps each type of pocket slip into a system of
both aesthetic and function. Taking inspiration from Curiosity Cabinets and my own personal
connections to curation, A Celebration of Pockets explores how we use pockets and what we
decide to put in them, seeking to make pockets a main, graphic, and visual source of storage on
the body.
